UNITED are reportedly edging close to the signing of Boubacar Kamara from Marseille. Talks to sign midfielder Boubacar Kamara in what would be the first new addition of the Ralf Rangnick era.
The 22-year-old, who has earned rave reviews for his performances for Marseille in Ligue 1, has attracted interest from a whole host of clubs including Barcelona since become a regular at the Stade Velodrome.
He has been an ever-present figure in Jorge Sampaoli’s side this season, making 14 appearances in the league, netting one goal.
It now appears his fine form has not gone unnoticed and The Athletic say United are one of several clubs interested in his services.
The reports suggests a deal could be wrapped up for the opening days of the transfer window if everything goes to plan.
Ralf Rangnick is said to have given his blessing for the deal and the German will have a big say on recruitment given he is set to move into a consultancy role when his time as interim boss comes to an end.
Kamara was close to moving to the Premier League on transfer deadline day when he was the subject of late interest from Newcastle and Wolves.
Yet despite late talks with both clubs, Kamara decided that he wanted to stay put.
The midfield star, who can also play at centre-back, was offered a two-year contract extension back in September but he turned the offer down though and an exit now looks to be on the cards.
